Grants to Louisiana nonprofit organizations and government agencies for neighborhood improvement projects in eligible locations. Funding is intended for housing projects, public services, public facility improvements, and economic development activities that benefit communities in Jefferson Parish.

Program Goals and Components: 

  • Community  Development  Block  Grant  Program  (CDBG): Provides funds to support the development of viable urban communities through decent housing, expanding economic opportunities of persons of low and moderate-income.  
  • Emergency Shelter Grant Program (ESG): Provides funds for emergency shelters for the homeless and other programs to prevent homelessness.
  • HOME Investment  Partnerships  Program (HOME): Provides funds to expand the supply of safe, decent, affordable housing for low-income Americans, such as First-Time Homebuyer Assistance and Housing Rehab Programs.

CDBG activities must meet a National Objective as defined by HUD:

  • Primarily benefit low- or moderate-income (under 80% of the area median income) individuals or households;
  • Aid in the elimination of slum or blight conditions;
  • Meet an urgent community need.

Term of Contract:

All construction projects should be ready to start within six months after funding.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Government entities and nonprofit organizations may apply.

Applications from individuals and for-profit businesses will not be accepted.
