GrantWatch Dataset Usage Terms

GrantWatch, Inc. (“GrantWatch”) provides limited access to a proprietary database and research platform containing grant opportunities, funder profiles, recipient profiles, organization profiles, funding information, classifications, search tools, and related data and content.

Access to GrantWatch is provided solely for the permitted research and grant-related purposes described in these Dataset Usage Terms. Access does not convey ownership of the GrantWatch database or grant any right to reproduce, extract, copy, redistribute, republish, license, sell, or otherwise exploit the GrantWatch database or its proprietary content.

These Dataset Usage Terms govern access to and use of data, information, and content made available through GrantWatch.com and its related services.

1. The GrantWatch Database

The GrantWatch database is a curated and organized collection of information compiled from multiple sources, including public records, government data, funding sources, organizations, foundations, and information researched, reviewed, verified, classified, organized, enhanced, or created by GrantWatch.

Certain individual facts and records available through GrantWatch may originate from publicly available sources and may not themselves be owned by GrantWatch.

However, GrantWatch’s selection, compilation, organization, categorization, presentation, enrichment, descriptions, classifications, database structure, search functionality, and proprietary content are protected to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Access to GrantWatch does not grant ownership of or unrestricted rights to the GrantWatch database or its proprietary content.

2. Permitted Use

GrantWatch provides limited access to its database for individual and organizational research and legitimate grant-related purposes in accordance with the user’s GrantWatch subscription, account permissions, applicable usage limits, these Dataset Usage Terms, and the GrantWatch Terms of Use.

Permitted uses include:

• researching and discovering grant opportunities;
• identifying potential funding opportunities;
• researching funders, grant recipients, organizations, and funding relationships;
• conducting grant-related due diligence;
• preparing grant applications;
• managing grant prospecting and funding research; and
• conducting internal organizational planning related to grants and funding.

Permitted access to individual records does not constitute permission to reproduce, extract, systematically collect, compile, redistribute, republish, or create another dataset from GrantWatch content.

3. Prohibited Uses

Users may not:

• copy, download, reproduce, or extract all or a substantial portion of the GrantWatch database;
• systematically collect, aggregate, download, store, or compile data obtained from GrantWatch;
• scrape, crawl, harvest, mine, or use bots, scripts, automated systems, browser automation, or similar technologies to extract GrantWatch data;
• republish, redistribute, transmit, sublicense, sell, rent, transfer, or commercially exploit GrantWatch data;
• create, populate, supplement, replicate, reconstruct, or enhance another database, directory, grant platform, search service, data product, or competing product using data obtained from GrantWatch;
• use GrantWatch data to train, fine-tune, ground, populate, develop, evaluate, or improve artificial intelligence or machine-learning models, datasets, products, or services;
• use automated agents, artificial intelligence systems, or large language models to systematically retrieve, reproduce, retain, aggregate, or compile GrantWatch database content;
• circumvent technical, account, subscription, rate, usage, access, security, or other restrictions intended to protect GrantWatch or its database;
• use multiple accounts, credentials, automated processes, or other methods to circumvent GrantWatch access or usage limitations;
• remove or obscure GrantWatch attribution, copyright notices, trademarks, proprietary notices, or other rights information; or
• represent GrantWatch’s proprietary research, descriptions, classifications, organization, compilation, enrichment, or other original content as originating from another source.

No right or license to copy, reproduce, extract, scrape, republish, redistribute, sublicense, sell, commercially exploit, reconstruct, or create a derivative database from the GrantWatch database is granted by access to or use of GrantWatch.

4. Public-Source Information

GrantWatch incorporates certain information derived from publicly available sources, including government databases, regulatory records, tax filings, and other public records.

Nothing in these Dataset Usage Terms claims ownership over underlying government records, public-domain material, or other information that GrantWatch does not own.

Users remain free to obtain such information independently and directly from its original public source, subject to applicable laws and any terms governing that source.

The presence of public-source information within GrantWatch does not grant permission to systematically extract that information from GrantWatch, reproduce the GrantWatch database, or copy GrantWatch’s proprietary compilation, selection, organization, enrichment, classifications, descriptions, presentation, or other original content.

Public availability of an underlying fact or record does not create a right to obtain that information by scraping, copying, extracting, or reproducing the GrantWatch database.

5. Automated, AI and Machine Access

The fact that GrantWatch content may be publicly viewable or technically accessible does not constitute authorization for automated extraction, collection, retention, or machine use of the GrantWatch database.

Bots, crawlers, artificial intelligence agents, automated scripts, data-mining systems, large language models, machine-learning systems, and similar technologies may not systematically extract, reproduce, retain, aggregate, compile, or use GrantWatch database content for purposes prohibited by these terms.

GrantWatch content may not be used to train, fine-tune, ground, develop, evaluate, populate, or improve artificial intelligence or machine-learning models, datasets, products, or services.

Search-engine crawling and indexing for the limited purpose of discovering, indexing, and displaying GrantWatch webpages in ordinary search results does not constitute permission to reproduce, redistribute, retain, create datasets from, or use GrantWatch content for artificial intelligence or machine-learning purposes.

6. No Dataset Licensing

GrantWatch does not license its database for copying, bulk extraction, republication, redistribution, resale, creation of competing or derivative databases, or use in training or developing artificial intelligence or machine-learning systems.

Free, registered, trial, promotional, or paid access to GrantWatch provides only limited access to GrantWatch’s research platform for the permitted uses described in these terms.

Payment for a GrantWatch subscription or other service does not constitute the purchase of GrantWatch data and does not transfer ownership of any portion of the GrantWatch database.

No level of GrantWatch access conveys a license to reproduce, extract, redistribute, republish, resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the GrantWatch database.

7. Accounts and Access Restrictions

GrantWatch may establish limits governing searches, page views, records viewed, downloads, requests, automated activity, or other forms of platform usage.

Users may not evade or attempt to evade these restrictions through multiple accounts, shared credentials, automated systems, IP rotation, technological measures, or other means.

GrantWatch accounts and access privileges are provided for their authorized purposes and may not be used as a mechanism for systematic database extraction.

8. Intellectual Property and Reservation of Rights

GrantWatch retains all rights in its proprietary database, original content, research, descriptions, classifications, categorization, organization, selection, compilation, enrichment, presentation, software, trademarks, branding, and other intellectual property to the extent provided by applicable law.

All rights not expressly granted under these Dataset Usage Terms are reserved by GrantWatch.

Nothing contained on GrantWatch.com or in these terms creates an implied license or other right to GrantWatch’s proprietary database or intellectual property.

9. Enforcement

GrantWatch reserves the right to restrict, suspend, or terminate access when it reasonably determines that its database, website, accounts, systems, or services are being accessed or used in violation of these Dataset Usage Terms, the GrantWatch Terms of Use, or applicable law.

GrantWatch may employ technical and administrative measures to detect or prevent unauthorized scraping, extraction, automated access, excessive requests, circumvention of access restrictions, or other prohibited activity.

GrantWatch reserves all rights and remedies available under applicable law with respect to unauthorized access, extraction, copying, reproduction, distribution, exploitation, or use of its database or proprietary content.

10. Relationship to GrantWatch Terms of Use

These Dataset Usage Terms supplement the GrantWatch Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, subscription terms, and other applicable GrantWatch policies.

Nothing in these Dataset Usage Terms expands a user’s rights beyond those provided under the GrantWatch Terms of Use or an applicable GrantWatch subscription.

If a provision of these Dataset Usage Terms conflicts with another GrantWatch agreement concerning use of the GrantWatch database, the more restrictive provision concerning copying, extraction, scraping, redistribution, republication, automated access, and reuse of the GrantWatch database will apply to the extent permitted by applicable law.

11. Changes to These Terms

GrantWatch may revise these Dataset Usage Terms from time to time.

Revisions will be posted on this page together with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued access to or use of GrantWatch following the effective date of revised terms constitutes acceptance of the revised terms to the extent permitted by applicable law.

12. Governing Law

These Dataset Usage Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

Any dispute arising from or relating to these Dataset Usage Terms or unauthorized use of the GrantWatch database shall be subject to the jurisdiction and venue provisions contained in the applicable GrantWatch Terms of Use.
